Most people would prefer to escape when threatened by a volcanic eruption that produces lava heat up to 1,000 C. But not for Skarphedinn Thrainsson, an intrepid photographer who braved death for the sake of obtaining the photographs are stunning.
"It was the most amazing experiences of my life" says Skarphedinn.
"You feel so small and helpless in front of the volcanic mountain. And back to normal landscape photography after experiencing it, it's boring"
Skarphedinn, a native of Reykjavik, Iceland, taking beautiful photographs at Fimmvorduhals and Eyjafjallajokull volcanic eruption, which had caused a sensation in Europe about 2 years ago.
Fimmvorduhals volcano in the mountains tend to be more friendly. However, Eyjafjallajokull terrible time of eruption, the ash could kill the airline industry in Europe.
"It is very dangerous in the surrounding area Eyjafjallajokull, Iceland, most of the time I took photos of last year, due to lightning darting behind a thick ash"
"Lightning strikes near the spot had I stood that night. Two people died tragically because of lost that night after making observations there." he added.
Skarphedinn now obsessed to capture the extraordinary moments, and the next goal is to Hawaii and other fabulous locations. But he says ready to shoot if a time the mountain in Iceland erupted again.
